Insmed shares fell nearly 7% after CFO Sara Bonstein announced she will step down on Oct. 30.
Insmed reaffirmed 2026 revenue guidance, including $1.25-$1.40 billion for Brinsupri.
Bonstein's exit follows her nearly seven-year tenure during Insmed's growth and $4.2 billion capital raise.
Shares of Insmed (INSM - Free Report) declined nearly 7% on Monday after the company announced that its chief financial officer (CFO), Sara Bonstein, will step down from her role effective Oct. 30.
The departure came as a surprise to investors, given Bonstein’s nearly seven-year tenure as CFO and her role during a significant period of Insmed’s growth and transformation.
While Insmed did not specify the reason for this transition, it stated that Bonstein’s departure is not related to any disagreement with the company concerning accounting practices, financial statements, internal controls or operations.
Although the leadership change introduces some uncertainty for investors, Insmed reaffirmed its 2026 revenue guidance. This suggests that management has not made any changes to its current financial outlook following the CFO transition.
Why Did INSM Stock Fall on CFO Departure News?
The sharp decline appears to be primarily due to investor uncertainty surrounding the unexpected departure of a long-serving senior executive. Bonstein oversaw Insmed’s finance organization during a period in which the company raised more than $4.2 billion in capital and transitioned into a commercial-stage biotech.
The timing of this departure may have further contributed to the negative reaction. Insmed is entering an important phase of growth, with Brinsupri rapidly scaling and the company targeting cash-flow positivity in 2027. Although Bonstein will remain in her role through the company’s third-quarter 2026 earnings release and conference call on Oct. 29, Insmed has already begun searching for her successor.
Year to date, shares of Insmed have lost 40% against the industry’s 3% growth.
